Steve Beagelman is a franchise industry veteran of more than 30 years who held positions ranging from entrepreneur to senior level executive, giving him a unique insight and perspective in growing, operating, and building brands. In 2009, Steve established SMB Franchise Advisors, a franchise consulting company specializing in advising franchise start-ups and existing franchise concepts of ways to drive business growth. As of 2019, SMB has assisted over 200 companies grow their concepts.

His experience includes top-level positions with such franchise brands as Hollywood Tans, Saladworks, Rita’s Italian Ice, Restaurant Systems International and Takeout Taxi. At the age of 21, Steve also spearheaded his own franchise operation as the co-founder of Black Tie Express, a start-up multi-restaurant delivery service. Under his guidance, Black Tie Express successfully grew to a 30-unit operation. Within three years, he built a successful company and then completed the title sale to the number one market leader, Takeout Taxi. He is a frequent guest speaker at International Franchise Association conferences and is a regular contributor to business franchise industry publications, including Forbes, serving as both source and author. Steve is also a contributor to a recent franchise book, “So You Want to Franchise Your Business”. He has been quoted numerous times as an expert in Franchising World, Franchise Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Steve received his Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) in 2006 from the International Franchise Association and holds a degree in Business Administration from Pace University, specializing in Business Management.

Rocco has spent more than 25 years in Franchising, starting out as a franchisor in casual dining. After building a great brand and selling to a public company, Rocco then became one of the largest franchisees with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and developed and operated the brand in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Krispy Kreme at the time, was America’s Favorite Brand. After developing all three states, Rocco sold back to the parent company.

Rocco went on to pursue a career in franchise financing and led Benetrends Financial as the President and CEO to become the Franchise Industry leader in financing. Over 8 years, Rocco more than doubled the size of the organization and tripled the revenue and income while developing a culture that was recognized as one of the top 5 companies to work for in the Philadelphia market.

Nick Powills

Nick Powills, CFE, founded No Limit Agency in 2008 and its sister companies, 1851 Franchise and Estate Envy, in 2012 and 2016, respectively. Today, he serves as CEO for the Chicago-based firm as well as publisher of both publications.

Prior to starting No Limit at the age of 27, Nick spent four years working at a franchise PR agency where he mastered the art of building rapport with media outlets and creating newsworthy pitches for earned media placements. Prior to jumping into PR, Powills worked as a writer at the Northwest Herald, a daily newspaper in Chicago; started Lumino, an online music magazine; and had internships at Rolling Stone and Details Magazine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from Drake University in Iowa.

Powills is a member of the Forbes Agency Council and in 2016, No Limit Agency was named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies.
